Plymouth Liberal Democrats Choose Rebecca Trimnell to fight the Ham by-election6.40.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 8th Aug 2009
Plymouth Liberal Democrat Party has chosen a dedicated hard working resident of Plymouth as its candidate for the Ham by-election. Rebecca Trimnell has lived in Plymouth for 12 years, with her family. She works for a charity based in the centre of Plymouth and works voluntarily with the homeless soup run in the city and has campaigned vigorously to save recreational and green spaces in the City. She has been involved with a variety of other organisations in the City, which includes working with vulnerable people, and group's that provides play facilities for children and families. Rebecca said: "I am looking forward to fighting for the seat. I intend to work with people who have been badly let down by the disorganisation associated with the housing stock transfer and demolition of people's homes. I will work closely with members of the community to get to the root cause of antisocial behaviour". Steve Barton, the Chair of Plymouth Liberal Democrats said, "Rebecca is a real fighter, she will be on the streets listening to people's concerns and supporting them to take action. For years now the Labour party have been doing things to the community that has disempowered families. Their legacy is no strategy for people, transport or the environment. Things have not improved for the families that are really struggling to make ends meet. Rebecca will be the champion of change and is determined to do politics differently."
